Images of Assisi

It has been a busy few weeks which began with a 10 day visit to Assisi and the opportunity to draw and soak up some sunshine.

I made some of these drawings from the monastery garden which overlooks the churches of Santa Chiara and San Rufino with the forested slopes of Monte Subasio in the background.

The monastery was a short walk from the Basilica of San Francesco where I drew most afternoons before walking to the Rocca Maggiore for the most stunning views over the Vale of Spello. I took with me oil pastels and my favourite Conte pencils which enabled  me to work quickly. I always like to have different  papers to work on and for this trip I took Khadi paper and my favourite Moleskine sketchbook.
